1. What does cosplay mean to you?
Cosplay has meant so much to me, it has brought a lot of my hobbies together like my love of being creative, crafting, collecting. It has fulfilled the creative side of me. I’ve met so many nice an really cool people through the cosplay community and I look forward to where it goes from here.
2. What inspired you to start cosplaying?
When I was a little kid I liked comic books, TV series, movies, videos games and costumes. I went through a faze where I wore my Pink Power Ranger costume everyday when I got home from school along with other costumes. So I think that was the beginning of the costume fanatic in me. As I got older I started collecting more comic books, statues and figures and started going to conventions which is where I saw other people dressing up but it was nothing like it is now. It’s amazing how it took off and I love how so many people enjoy it.
3. How do you choose which characters to cosplay as?
I write down and keep adding to a long list of characters and idea’s that I would love to cosplay from comic books, video games, TV series, and movies and I from there I keep adding and checking off.
4. What’s the most challenging part of creating a cosplay costume?
For me the most challenging part of creating a costume can be sewing though I keep working on that. I really love working with EVA foam.
5. How long does it typically take you to prepare for a cosplay event or convention?
It can depend on what I’m cosplaying. Some costumes can take me a week to make and others can take a couple months or more.
6. What’s the most memorable reaction you’ve received while in costume at an event?
I just enjoy every time someone stops me and asks if they can take a picture with me, they are always so kind and compliment my cosplay.
7. How do you handle negative comments or criticism about your cosplays?
For the most part people have been very kind to me, but if not I just try to ignore it.
8. Do you have any advice for someone who’s interested in getting started with cosplay?
Just have fun, it’s a great way to make new friends with a common interest.
9. What are some other hobbies that people might not know about yourself?
One of my other hobbies that has been a big roll in my life is music. I’ve played guitar, bass, drums and I have taken a Luthier course and built my own electric guitar from a block of wood.
