Hold onto your comic books, DC fans! A fresh rumor is making the rounds, suggesting that DC Studios is cooking up a new TV series based on the comic book character Human Target. This tantalizing tidbit comes from FilmFront (via CBM), and it hints at a potentially exciting addition to the DC television lineup.

The buzz is that the show is being developed under the guidance of comic writer Tom King. King, known for his stellar work on series like “Lanterns” and “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” has reportedly been involved with this project since early 2024. This could mean big things for fans of the Human Target character, as King’s involvement promises a faithful and thrilling adaptation.

Tom King is set to be the main writer for the series, and the search is on for both a showrunner and a lead star. If this project comes to fruition, it will have heavy hitters James Gunn and Peter Safran on board as executive producers, ensuring top-tier production values and storytelling.

For those unfamiliar with the character, Human Target first graced the pages of Action Comics #419 back in 1972, created by Len Wein and Carmine Infantino. The original Human Target, Christopher Chance, is a master impersonator and bodyguard who takes on the identities of people marked for assassination, putting himself in harm’s way to protect his clients.

This isn’t the first time Human Target has been adapted for television. Warner Bros. launched a “Human Target” TV series in 2010, starring Mark Valley as Christopher Chance, which ran for two seasons and a total of 25 episodes on Fox. Additionally, Wil Traval portrayed the character in a 2016 episode of “Arrow.” Even earlier, Rick Springfield brought the character to life in a 1992 TV series.

If these rumors are true, the new “Human Target” series could bring a fresh, modern take on this classic character, blending intense action with the deep, psychological drama that Tom King is known for. Fans of the comics and new viewers alike could be in for a real treat.

Stay tuned for more updates on this potential series!
