“Creature Commandos,” first introduced in 1980, features a unique team of military superhumans. Originally, the group included Frankenstein’s monster, a werewolf, a vampire, and a gorgon, all fighting Nazis during World War II. Gunn’s adaptation brings a fresh twist by adding characters like Weasel from Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” (2021) and Rick Flag Sr. to the mix.

The star-studded voice cast includes David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as the Bride of Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, and Maria Bakalova, Zoe Chao, and Steve Agee in other key roles. Sean Gunn reprises his role as Weasel, and the legendary Viola Davis returns as Amanda Waller, a character she has portrayed since 2016’s “Suicide Squad.”

In addition to this exciting lineup, Frank Grillo will voice Rick Flag Sr. and also transition to live-action, playing the same character in “Peacemaker” Season 2 and Superman. This crossover showcases Gunn and co-chief Peter Safran’s commitment to maintaining continuity across animated and live-action formats.

The announcement emphasized that the actors voicing characters in the animated series are expected to portray their roles in future live-action DC projects. This continuity aims to create a seamless and immersive experience for fans, enhancing the storytelling across different media.

With “Creature Commandos,” Gunn is set to deliver a refreshing and thrilling addition to the DC Universe, blending beloved classic characters with new and intriguing additions. As the December release approaches, anticipation continues to build for what promises to be an action-packed and entertaining series.
