Marvel Comics is shaking up the Ultimate Universe once again with the announcement of Ultimate Wolverine, a fresh take on the fan-favorite character, written by Chris Condon (Venom War: Daredevil) and illustrated by Alessandro Cappuccio (Moon Knight). The new series, set to launch in January, will explore Wolverine’s dark past as a government weapon, but with a twist: this time, Logan takes on the role of the Ultimate Universe’s Winter Soldier.

In this new storyline, Wolverine is mindwiped and turned into an unwilling assassin, controlled by the Maker, the mysterious architect of the Ultimate Universe. Stripped of his free will, Logan is used as a deadly asset by Magik, Colossus, and Omega Red — three of the Maker’s powerful council members. With his signature fighting skills, he remains the best at what he does, even if he can’t control his targets.
Before the series officially debuts, fans will get a taste of this new Wolverine in Ultimate Universe: One Year In #1, a special one-shot arriving later this year. This prelude story will showcase Logan’s first mission as the Ultimate Winter Soldier, setting the stage for his larger role in Marvel’s upcoming Ultimate Universe saga.

This bold reimagining of Wolverine promises to deliver action-packed storytelling with a darker edge, as Logan faces the ultimate battle — against his own mind.
