Marvel alum Scarlett Johansson has officially confirmed her role in the upcoming Jurassic World movie, and she couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the project. Following reports in March suggesting Johansson was in talks to join the franchise, the actress recently opened up about her involvement, expressing her excitement for the film and its storyline penned by David Koepp, the original writer of Jurassic Park.

In an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com, Johansson shared her deep admiration for the Jurassic Park series. “I’m an enormous Jurassic Park fan. It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am,” Johansson said. She also praised the script, teasing the next installment: “The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome.”

Johansson, who has recently concluded her decade-long tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, admitted that her interest in the Jurassic World franchise began long before she landed the role. Her fascination sparked when the first Jurassic World movie premiered in 2015, revitalizing the series 22 years after the original film.

“I’m such an enormous fan of the franchise and a huge nerd for it. I’m just like, I can’t even, I’m pinching myself,” Johansson confessed. “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over ten years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time is actually unbelievable.”

The new Jurassic World movie, which marks the seventh film in the franchise, is reportedly assembling a star-studded cast. Alongside Johansson, the cast is said to include Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Jonathan Bailey, and Rupert Friend. Additionally, two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali has been rumored to be circling the project, although his role remains undisclosed at this stage.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the untitled Jurassic World movie is currently in principal photography in Thailand. Edwards, known for his work on films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla, is expected to bring his unique vision to the beloved dinosaur saga.

Scheduled for a July 2, 2025 release date, the anticipation for the next Jurassic World installment is building. With Johansson’s enthusiasm and the return of David Koepp to the scriptwriting helm, fans of the franchise can look forward to an exciting and potentially groundbreaking addition to the series.

Stay tuned for more updates as the film progresses, and mark your calendars for what promises to be an epic continuation of the Jurassic World saga.
