Star Wars is heading back into the criminal underworld with Tales of the Underworld, a new animated anthology series premiering on Disney+ on May 4. Lucasfilm has just dropped the full trailer, offering a thrilling glimpse into a galaxy far from the reach of the Jedi or the Empire—one ruled by bounty hunters, outlaws, and uneasy alliances.

The series consists of six shorts, centering on two of Star Wars’ most infamous mercenaries: Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. Ventress, a former Sith assassin, is given an unexpected second chance at life, forcing her to flee with an unlikely ally. Meanwhile, Cad Bane finds himself at odds with his past as he faces off against an old friend who now upholds the law as a marshal. With their fates intertwined, Tales of the Underworld promises a deeper look into the morally complex world of bounty hunters, where survival often means betraying the ones closest to you.

Fans will be thrilled to hear that Nika Futterman and Corey Burton are reprising their roles as Ventress and Bane, respectively. The series also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, and Clare Grant. Created by Star Wars mastermind Dave Filoni, with Matt Michnovetz as a writer and Alex Spotswood as producer, Tales of the Underworld continues Filoni’s tradition of expanding the Star Wars universe with rich storytelling and dynamic animation.

With its focus on the galaxy’s grittiest corners and two of its most compelling antiheroes, Tales of the Underworld is shaping up to be an essential watch for Star Wars fans. Will Ventress find redemption? Can Bane outrun his past? The answers arrive when the series debuts on Disney+ this Star Wars Day.
